Notes

Notes
01 Osmond and Hannah Gilles had a previous child named Lewis William, who was born on 1 February 1792, baptised at St Anne’s on 27 February 1792, and buried at St Anne’s on 15 May 1792 (as William Lewis).
02 A much later source has him as “Commander, RN.” This is incorrect as he only rose to midshipman before leaving the service. Accordingly, he does not appear in the Navy (Officer) Lists and did not qualify for a pension.
